Most photography enthusiasts, be they experts or hobbyists, save their shots in raw formats which can only be previewed and modified with dedicated software solutions, such as Picture Style Editor which allows users to create style files out of their pics.

An EOS 400D set on ‘Standard’ Picture Style will produce images with the same image qualities as the EOS-1D Mark III set on ‘Standard’. Picture Style information is fixed onto JPEG images at the time of capture. When shooting RAW images, all Picture Style information can be adjusted in Digital Photo Professional after the shoot.

The application installs smoothly on any computer and one simply needs to drag and drop their raw graphic files onto the main window in order to start editing it. Picture Style Editor supports several types of raw formats, such as CR2, CRW, TIF and TIFF.

Once an image is loaded, the app automatically displays a tool palette where one can select the tweaks they want to apply.

More precisely, they can start with the basic adjustments that include modifying the sharpness level, along with the contrast, color saturation and color tone. The changes can be previewed in real-time so they can be immediately corrected.

Users can also apply specific color enhancements by relying on the dedicated color picker, select a color in the image and modify it.

Before saving the style file, one can modify the white balance setting to auto, daylight, cloudy, tungsten, white fluorescent light, flash or color temperature. The brightness level can be modified to make sure the picture objects are properly highlighted.
